Housing Slump Bringing Down Sales
There are many housing markets from one side of the United States to the next that are slumping. If you live in one of these markets you should be able to get a great deal on a home in an active adult community. But on the other side of things, this is a huge problem for developers and real estate agents. After all, if they cannot sell the homes that they build they are not going to make any money.
Developers have come up with many ways to attract buyers to active adult communities. Although these incentives are not the same across the board, there are many that are being used by developers. For instance, builders are offering large incentive packages, cost free upgrades to the home of their choice, and cash discounts in order to bring down the price. All of these things will go a long way in bringing a lot of people back into the housing market.
There are a couple of reasons that the market has high a low as of late. They include resale prices that are entirely too high as well as the difficulty that people are having when trying to sell their current home. This has led to builders dropping prices by as much as $100,000 in some areas of the country. While this is an extreme, it is what they must do in order to recover their money and make a profit. There used to be a time when a new active adult community would draw thousands of visitors a day, but this has not been the case as of late.
Overall, it will be interesting to see which way the housing markets move in the next few years. For the sake of builders and developers, hopefully things will even out as far as active adult communities are concerned.
