Active Retirement Community
Bridgewater has come to be known as one of the top areas in the country for senior housing communities. This is set to increase in the near future if two senior communities get the go ahead from the Board of Adjustment.
One of the proposed developments is set to take over the land of Bound Brook Driving Range. If approval is given, a 70 unit housing complex for seniors will be built in the area.
The other proposal is for a 60 unit community located on approximately 7.5 acres alongside Route 28.
According to township numbers, there are more than 1,500 senior housing units in the area at this time. This includes everything from independent and assisted living to active retirement communities.
A lot of towns all over the country are interested in constructing active retirement community and other like developments. These go a long way in generating revenue, but at the same time active retirement communities do not increase traffic or bring additional children into the area.
