Bleachery Site: Plus 55 Community on the way?
The Bleachery site located near Rock Hill is soon to be converted into a modern plus 55 community. If you look at this site right now it is hard to imagine a change, but it appears that one is on the way.
At this time, the site is best known as the location of one of the largest printing and finishing mills in the area. But since this is no longer necessary, redevelopment efforts are underway to make a change.
The plan is for a plus 55 community to be situated in the area. The community would feature approximately 300 homes, and would only be open to people who are over the age of 55. Although there are a lot of people hoping that this project moves forward, nothing is set in stone as of yet. In fact, city officials noted that no agreement is in place as of yet. There are still some money issues to be worked out as well as other details that need to be addressed.
Every year millions of baby boomers are turning 60, and are looking for a plus 55 community where they can settle into an easy lifestyle. Although Arizona and Florida are the perennial power states when it comes to plus 55 communities, there is no reason that South Carolina should not be able to get into the game. A big jump forward in this area could take place if the plus 55 community at the Bleachery site is approved.
