Sun City Carolina Lakes Attracts Thousands
While most developers and seniors know that active adult communities are really popular right now, the opening of the Sun City Carolina Lakes attracted more attention than anyone was expecting! More than 3,000 people traipsed through the active retirement community in Northern Lancaster County in South Carolina in just three hours! The public was anxious to see the community as it has been completely off limits since ground was broken in June of 2005.
The Sun City Carolina Lakes community boasts 4,400 homes, and is just five miles south of the North Carolina state border. Homes range from 1,100 to 2,600 square feet with 12 models to choose from. Prices for the homes range from $167,000 to $340,000. The community is not off limits to people younger than 55, but to buy in the area, one member of the family must be at least 55 years or older. One stipulation that the 55+ community has is that no children under the age of 18 can live there, though grandchildren can visit their grandparents any time.
Of course, this is not the first Sun City property; there are Sun City active adult communities in Hilton Head as well as Florida. There are also plans for a plus 55 community to be built in Atlanta in the near future. This specific community features a recreation center, 18 holes of golf, breathtaking walking trails, and awe-inspiring lakes. Sun City Carolina Lakes truly encompasses what everyone would consider a great place to enjoy your golden years and grow old.
As testament to the beauty of this active adult community, all but 89 of the first 537 homes were sold before the grand opening of the community. Those that have purchased their homes began moving in during the month of May. Carolina Lakes really does offer great homes, a great setting, and four seasons that cannot be matched anywhere else in the United States.
