Sun City Carolina Lakes: Comfortable Active Adult Community

Lancaster County in South Carolina is no stranger to 55+ communities that have a wide appeal among older adults. Sun City Carolina Lakes is the newest such community and when completed will be compromised of 4,400 homes ranging from the upper $100,000s to the mid $300,000s. The area is appealing to many that want to be closer to friends and family, who want to buy a home that requires less maintenance, or simply want to live in an area that caters to their lifestyle. While the Sun City Carolina Lakes property is not yet completed, it has been met with a lot of excitement by the 55+ community.

Sun City Carolina Lakes is not the first active adult community that has been built by Sun City Pulte Homes. The first community was the Sun City Hilton Head that was opened in Bluffton 12 years ago. The Hilton head community features about 5,200 homes and is situated on 4,300 beautiful acres of lands. Eventually the community will offer 8,700 hundred homes. Del Webb, bought out by Pulte homes, has been building these types of communities for 40 years, starting in Phoenix. With much success in the past, Sun City Carolina Lakes is the newest addition to what is a planned 23 active adult communities nationwide. South Carolina is an ideal location as the population in the state is aging and many are retiring to this portion of the Eastern United States. The 50+ population measures more than 1.1 million as of 2000, which makes an obvious need for such active retirement communities.

Carolina Lakes is likely to boast golf courses, very low maintenance homes, walking trails along the Catawba River, and social activities. Sun City Carolina Lakes has drawn the interest of more than 35,000 since the project was announced two years ago. The active retirement community will open this summer and there are seniors from all over the country, even as far as New York.

Currently there are more than 100 homes sold, leaving plenty of real estate for others who are interested in relocating to this active retirement community. There are 12 models to choose from that range from 1,100 to 2,600 square feet. Features like an 18-hole golf course, resort pool, clubhouse, walking trails, playgrounds, and planned social activities make Carolina Lakes a great place for any older adult!
