Ryland Homes Active Adult Communities

Ryland Homes, a California-based national homebuilder, recently began developing four new gated, active adult community sub-divisions in San Antonio: Westover Woods, Enclave at Canyon Springs, the Villas at Mountain Lodge, and Promontory Pointe. These four private communities are expected to add 400 homes to the local housing market during the 2006 calendar year.

Model homes have already been completed in Westover Woods, one of the four private sub-divisions, which is located in western San Antonio off of Military Drive. Western San Antonio is the leading submarket in home development throughout San Antonio. In the 2005 calendar year, 4,808 homes began construction; a 37 percent increase from 2004.

Completion of model homes in the remaining three subdivisions, Enclave at Canyon Springs, the Villas at Mountain Lodge, and Promontory Pointe, which are located in northern San Antonio, is scheduled for the next three months. Enclave at Canyon Springs is located at Lookout Canyon and Canyon Golf Road. The Villas at Mountain Lodge is located off of U.S. Highway 281 and Mountain Lodge Drive.

The $160,000 to $190,000 price range of the northern communities is a pleasant alternative to the $200,000 and $300,000 price range that encompasses nearly forty percent of the homes currently in northern San Antonio.

The Westover Woods development boasts a prime location, as it is located just outside of Westover Hills. The Baptist Health and Christus Santa Rosa hospital systems are also coming to the area. Ryland Homes expects the golf course community of Westover Woods to attract the eye of buyers who want to sell their home and move into an upper class, gated community. They are confident that they will fill a certain niche in which many homebuyers are looking to purchase houses.
